Positive Steroid Test in UFC

The mixed martial arts community is talking about the failed steroid test of UFC middleweight fighter Chael Somen  who recently lost his title fight against Anderson Silva   in UFC 117. The California State Athletic Commission, through its executive director George Dodd, informed the media of Sonnen’s failed steroid test. The urine analysis, which is required after the fight, showed a banned substance but Dodd did not specify the type of steroid found in Sonnen’s system because of existing policy. He also added that all the fighters in UFC 117 did pass the test for drugs of abuse. Most MMA news sites are certain that Sonnen is really involved in the use of steroids. There are even sites that published a series of pre-fight pictures of Sonnen showing his “bacne”. Acne is one common side effects oftaking steroids according to health experts. Chael Sonnen made an impressive fight against the undisputed Silva. He dominated the fight for 4 rounds until he submitted to a triangle choke by Silva. A rematch is already being planned for the two fighters but the recent findings of CSAC will affect this plan. If Sonnen will not appeal the positive result, he will certainly receive up to 1 year suspension. Sports analysts estimate that Sonnen will lose at least $1 million income if suspended by the CSAC.
